More than 50 years after the Moog Minimoog Model D entered the market as the first portable synthesizer, Moog has reissued the legendary instrument in its best iteration yet. With an all-original signal path, several playability upgrades and modern features such as MIDI connectivity, the reissued Model D preserves the iconic Moog sound and feel while keeping pace with today’s synth technology. If you’ve ever dreamed of owning an authentic Minimoog, this is your chance to get your hands on the real deal.

Because the signal path is identical to Robert Moog’s original design, you’re hearing the exact same three-oscillator monophonic sound engine, rich low-pass ladder filter and saturating mixer section that made the Minimoog famous. The component placement and through-hole design are the same as the original Model D, and the entire assembly sits inside a hand-finished aluminum chassis and locally-sourced Appalachian cherry outer cabinet with a legacy-inspired walnut stain.

In terms of upgrades, the new Model D includes several features from the 2016 variant, including a dedicated analog LFO with triangle and square waveshapes, a premium Fatar keybed with velocity and aftertouch (both with CV outputs), MIDI integration and a mixer feedback mod which produces abrasive distortion and screaming self-oscillation with the turn of a knob. And, for the first time ever, the Model D now includes a spring-loaded pitch bend wheel that snaps back to the center position, providing improved playability and potential for wild flourishes. With modern upgrades and vintage soul, this instrument is a synth lover’s dream.
