This is the newer version of the API 3124MB+.
This new unit adds Variable Outputs and Transformer Tap Selection.
API's commitment to quality means the 3124MV provides a stellar front end to a wide variety of audio applications. The 3124MV is designed with the professional engineer in mind, giving you four channels of premium preamp performance, while keeping the size and price at a reasonable level. Not only will it make your mics sound incredible, the unit's convenient front-panel hi-Z instrument inputs are engineered with the headroom to handle your active bass or hot outputs from keyboards and other gear. It's equally at home in commercial recording studios, mobile ENG or recording rigs, at front of house, or in your personal studio.
This preamp gives you the great sound and performance characteristics that make API gear so popular among studios, engineers, and musicians. The 3124MV utilizes the same microphone preamp circuit that is used in all API consoles. It uses the RE-115 K mic input transformer and the same output transformer that is found throughout the API product line. All four mic inputs of the 3124MV are powered by a 48-volt phantom power supply — front panel switchable for each channel. Also provided are front-panel, per-channel polarity-reverse switches and 20dB pad switches that affect both Mic and hi-Z inputs.
You get plenty of headroom from this pre, whether you're plugging in a mic or an instrument. The 3124MV can provide up to 65dB of gain, and with variable output you can optimize your gain staging. The front-panel hi-Z inputs routes directly to the op-amp, perfect for amplifying low-level inputs like guitar and bass without using a direct box or matching transformer. These inputs can take levels as high as +20dBu, making them ideal for active pickups, keyboards, and other high-level gear. The 3124MV sports rear-panel XLR mic pre inputs and channel outputs.
Essentially a 3124V with the addition of a complete stereo mixer, the 3124MV gives you even more flexibility and hands-on control. In addition to the gain and output level controls of the 3124V, the 3124MV adds a stereo panner with a level control, and a post-fader aux send. The stereo panners and the aux sends are bussed to master output controls and then to the rear panel jacks. A stereo AUX return is provided to return effects or cascade additional mixers for more inputs. The unique aux return pot acts like a panner to balance the left/right signal, while remaining in stereo. It can also be used as a mono return.
