Product Description

This mic is an exact replica of the U48. It is equipped with F7 capsule – Flea's exact reproduction of the M7 capsule, and the replica of the BV8 transformer.

Flea recommends the EF12 tube as we consider its sound character to be closest to the original. Of course, the price depends on the type of tube. Those of you who have knowledge of prices

know that the price of a good VF14 tube can reach $1800-. It is possible to use this mic for almost everything and it always sounds perfect. Of course, there are a few exceptions, but only a fool would position this mic 5 cm from the kick-drumhead of a heavy metal drummer.

The body is duraluminium and is nickel plated .

The grille comes standard as matt nickel. There is an option for shinny chrome. The whole set comprises the mic in wooden box, cable, shockmount and power supply. You can choose from two PSUs, modern one or the copy of the vintage style PSU.

The modern and vintage power supplies sound exactly the same. It is only a cosmetic differnece

Everything is packed in safety portable case. The other option of this microphone is: FLEA Magnum – fitted with F47/49 capsule. This mic holds an opened top end and has more sensitivity. You can achieve great results if you use Magnum for ambient miking.

The only difference between a U47 and U48 mic is that a 47 has cardioid and omni patterns and a 48 has cardioid and Fig of 8 patterns.
